RAC will give you cover.. Apart from recovery issues why should 500 miles in Europe cause more problems than 500 miles in the UK.. Trikey and marinabrian will be with the group and I'm sure they will offer some technical advice and assistance if needed but remember they are on holiday as well and if a car needs workshop facilities to make repairs then no matter who you have with you just like driving in the UK you need some back up, hence the recommendations to take out some breakdown/repair cover. I'm sure all will be fine and if the worst should happen I have a towrope.

Attention please
I have today placed the food order for the Thursday night meal at the Sandgate hotel in Folkstone. I have also had a call about food requirements for breakfast, lunch and dinner over the weekend from the De Ruwenberg Hotel in the Netherlands so I have asked them to email me a menu and I will forward it via PM to all taking part.. I'm pretty certain that breakfast is an all you can eat hot/cold buffet style but they need some idea of numbers. Then I'll make a list of those that wish to eat at the hotel Friday, Saturday,Sunday. I have no idea of menu prices or choices until I get the email... BUT PLEASE if the menu or the hotels food pricing is not to your liking don't complain to me ... Simply find somewhere else to eat or take sandwiches.. I have also asked Elles ( my contact at the hotel) to forward me some alternative places to eat in the local area, as I for one plan to explore the city on Saturday and will probably eat there in the evening. Not long to go now so I hope eveyone is looking forward to it. Cheers Ian

Thanks for all your organising Ian, not sure about the others but a meal at the hotel Friday evening sounds good as it’s going to be a long day.
It would be nice to know others plans as a group meal would be good or we could end up fragmented around the area. |

Plans for the weekend
So now we're only a couple weekends away, just wanted to ask what everyone's plans are for that weekend.
When we get off the Eurotunnel are the majority of us sticking together in a group and driving together? Also are there any planned stop offs on the way to the hotel? Also what's everyone planning to do on the Friday late afternoon/evening and Saturday? |

With the road conditions/traffic and differing driving styles it will be near impossible to keep together for the journey so I suspect we will fragment into smaller groups.. But of course will will regroup at the lunch stop. I plan to visit the city of 's-Hertogenbosch on Saturday and take in the sights and some local food but really folk are free to do as they wish.. polish the car for 8 hrs, get drunk whatever. Cheers

Hi Rick, I think eat at the hotel Friday night then we can plan out the rest of the weekend, but it would be good to maybe sample a local town restaurant on Saturday night.
Sunday evening not sure what opens in foreign lands, I know from a recent trip to France that not much was open on a Sunday evening. |
