I believe the temperature gauge is on the I_bus but not sure about the fuel gauge. I know the I-bus can be affected (amongst other things) by corrosion of electronic boxes in the boot. So is the boot dry?
If the Trip Screen Diagnostic shows that the temperature sensor is beeing 'seen' by the IPK, then the problem seems to be with the gauge circuit. eg the earth return as mentioned by bl52krz.

Thanks for the input gents. Once again this morning everything was working normally, so I tried the IPK test (no.2) and nothing happened. Tried it with engine off, engine running, etc. but nothing activates. Went through some of the other tests and some work, some don't (eg no.13, test the door 'gong', but nothing happens ??)

Am I missing something here, as when I go to IPK engine temp, it gives the reading virtually straight away

Will let T-Cut answer the question about the test as he’s the expert. Time perhaps to check those plugs and test with another IPK.

I'm simply guessing because I've not come across some tests working and some not. However, the dash display tests and the gong test seem to be specifically dealing with the IPK 'public interface' for want of a better term. This is also where the fuel gauge and temperature gauge fit, so looks to me like a common demoninator. I can only suggest a T4 checkover or discussion with a T4 owner.

Ok, thank you. The car is currently undergoing quite major repairs and won't be back on the road for a good few months. I'm keen that new problems don't appear whilst I'm trying to reduce my 'jobs-to-do' list, but it isn't vital to get this sorted immediately.

I'll monitor the problem and go deeper (if reqd.) once the car gets close to being roadworthy again.

All your help is much appreciated, thanks again everyone

Cheers Matt, the fault had gone again today, so I'll keep an eye on it and see if it's still playing up once the car is finally back on the road. I could be a while....
