Default Rear Suspension looks low on tourer CDTi

Hi all.

My 2001 diesel tourer looks a bit low on the back end when compared to other 75s.

Could this be tired springs, or did I read somewhere they they have self leveling suspension? If so could it be that that's causing the problem?

Thanks for any assistance,

Webbnos.

Self levelling was an option on the Tourer. They used Nivomat dampers and they restore the ride height "on the road". Check your ride height after having used the car for a short trip.

Hi thanks for the response, mine is always the same height, regardless of whether its been stood up or been for a drive which leads to suspect I wouldn't have the self leveling option?

With the car standing on horizontal ground, walk several yards away from it and look at the lower sill line. It should be horizontal.

If you measure the wheeel centre to arch (ie trim height) front should be 408mm and rear 399mm or so I believe. Some tolerance on this but how much I do know.

My ZTT looked a little low and it was a broken spring. Remove the wheel and inspect the bottom of the spring with a powerful torch.

mine also had broken springs and looked low at the back. difficult to see if you don't kmpw what it should look like. take the rear wheel off either side and have w look at the bottom of the springs, there should be a bottom coil of about 1/2 the diameter of the rest. If it is not there then the spring has snapped.

Are you typing in the dark?

My ZT-T had 2 broken springs & yet still sat right until one day one of them shifted & it dropped, on removal that one was in 3 pieces & the other had snapped half way up.

They almost always break at the end as the metal is thinner here so more highly stressed and so more vulnerable to corrosion also
