I can agree. In Poland LPG is extremely popular. If I am correct around 35% of petrol engines are converted to LPG. This amount is even higher in Italy. The thing is that with the last generation of conversions, the power is the same as on petrol and you can actually start the engine on gas (in older generations you used to sacrifice some power, needed to start engine with petrol, drive a bit on petrol and then the system was automatically switching for LPG). It is estimated that if car uses 10L/100km, it'll take 12L/100km, still it pays. However we start switching to CNG installations. It uses normal gas that is used in houses! It's more efficient and in Poland it's half the price of LPG. You can even buy a compressor and refuel at home The drawback is that the compression has to be a lot bigger than in LPG and the containers are much heavier.
