Default Error Message

Hi, On start-up I am occasionally getting a fault message on the Message Centre. Either "BRAKE FAULT" or "ABS FAULT" not every time but now and again. Only for a second or two then it goes off. I have checked brake fluid level and done a battery reset but it still happens sometimes. Any ideas?

Regards John

is yours a diesel? I get the red "Brake Fault (!)" message appearing randomly every now and again for a few seconds on starting the car. Been happening since I bought the car.

I think I remember on a previous thread a while ago that it was a common known fault on diesels?

No its a 1.8T. Never done it before but the last couple of weeks its done it about 5 times. Its when you first turn the ignition on, like its failing the self test but it doesn't stay on for long.

Mine does it as well if i rush things starting up, usually ger ERR appearing in the trip counter as well until the next restart.

I find if i wait until the milage comes up before starting the engine then these things dont appear.

I have noticed that this auto has a smaller battery than my manual car has. I was wondering if maybe the voltage dips a bit too low during start up causing these errors, and maybe a bigger battery might help.

Happens on mine periodically as well, nothing to worry about, unless it happens during an MOT.
