To be expected. Getting hard and harder to fine. 10 years ago they sold for more at one point.

I've always wondered why these were not fitted as standard to all cars. It's just plain odd that the blanking panel is there but there's nothing behind it.

They were fitted as standard but soon deleted as they were in a vulnerable position next to the drivers leg, apparently.

Drinks should only be in the cupholder when the vehicle is parked up and not being driven. So next to the driver's leg is irrelevant.

It is illegal to drink and drive at the same time.

Agree with Ken (Kwil). I have one on the drivers side in the 2.5 Connie, but not in the diesel. Very useful. Better than putting it on the floor............................................. .and kicking it over. Guess how I know.

It is not illegal to drink and drive at the same time (by that I mean drinking a non alcoholic drink). Nor is eating whilst driving.

It's just you can be done for careless driving if you're found to be not fully in control of the car (I.e. if you're weaving all over the place) or it can be proven that eating/drinking whilst driving was the cause for an accident.

There is no problem with a drink being in a vehicle cup holder whilst driving, no law against it what so ever.

The driver's cup holder was deleted as it gets in the way whilst driving, and getting broken due to this.

Got one in the ZT, and find being automatic it's not so vulnerable to damage.

Even the (now not so common) passenger ones seem to be £20-£30 price range whereas 5 or so years ago could be picked up for less than a tenner.

Rick is correct. My friend who reported two police officers for having a drink in their hands while waiting for traffic lights to change near my friend’s house. A police superintendent who telephoned him, and then came round his house, told him that it was not an offence to have a drink in your hand while in charge of a car. If they had a drink in their hand while driving (Moving) then that is an offence. You are not in full control of your vehicle. Two hands on the wheel, except if changing gear, putting lights on/off. Like it is an offence to mess with a satnav while driving (moving).
