Hi i have a 1.8 mg zt and im getting about 350 miles to a tank , is this ok as my zs had a smaller tank and i got more ???

That all depends on the type of driving you do (urban, rural, motorway), the length of trips you do, the amount of clutter in your boot (!).

I regularly get 500 miles from the tank of my ZT-T manual diesel, which equates to approx 37-38 mpg.

Remember, your ZT is a much heavier car than your ZS was, so fuel consumption will be heavier too. What do other K series ZT and 75 owners get to the tank?

That seems about right if not better than what I recall in my 75 1.8 non-turbo. If yours is the non-turbo then you will also have slightly smaller rims (17") than the rest of the ZT range at 18" but I typically average around 250 to 350mpg in my V6 depending on driving style. Check your tyre pressures, too.

As said, the ZS would be a much a lighter car, by as much as 350kgs or more or the same as carryying 4 less typical blokes! Plus the ZS has slightly narrower tyres and smaller body work so potentially less rolling resistance and less frontal area.

You only have to look at model ranges to see the CO output increases as the model size gets larger for the same engine, so economy will be hurt!

As an average, I'd say 350 miles is ok. It's about the same as mine. Around town the computer shows less than 22mpg, but on the motorway It can go up to 41mpg.
It all depends on where and how you drive.

I get about 30mpg from my diesel. Yes thats 30mpg, it goes up to about 37 on a run and I have seen even beter when I TRY. Has an xpart maf fitted at the mo ( pierburg still in wrapper ) but I'm sure that's not the only problem and the service indicator brings services up in under 10000 miles. I don't hang around and I live in a hilly area so it is not as bad as it sounds but my Seat Toledo 110TDi used to do 40 normal and 50-55 on a run so it can't just be me either.

I should have got a v6 for less money and put the difference towards some petrol. But I do like the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know the original query was to do with a 1.8...

but apologies for the 250-350mpg! That should be miles!

In the V6 I have had anywhere between
- almost 40mpg driving like a vicar in Lane 1 late one evening on the motorway over 200miles in purely 5th gear
- and 15-18mpg hammering it like a loony in a mix of 2nd/3rd/4th up the A93 past Braemar.
I attribute this reasonable economy for the most part to regular tyre pressure checks, along with use of Mobil 1 (the 0W40) and the Shell V-power fuel. And my driving style is more digital than analogue!

Back to the K series and the ZT, to state the distance from a tank is misleading in comparing to the ZS and ZR as the ZT has 65L. Technically the ZT should go the furthest. The ZS would be less, <60L, and the ZR <50L IIRC. I know someone stated on the MGOC BBS with a ZR VVC that they had managed 34mpg on a holiday run to Cornwall with some high speeds being clocked on the motorways.
