Default Does saying thank you really convey how grateful one can be?

Does saying thank you really convey how grateful one can be?

If your friend makes you a cup of team and hands it to you, you say thank you.
When the cashier gives you a receipt, you say thank you.

When you are angry there are all sorts of things that convey how you feel, voice, hand actions, facial expressions.

Thank you does not seem to have the same range of emotions to show. Perhaps a hug is the answer.

You are wrong.
Giving thanks can be more than just saying thank you.
It is no different to being angry and can be expressed by voice intonation, hand actions, facial expressions etc.

Default Always.

A thank you offered from the heart is always one the recipient knows is real, those kind of responses are better than money if a person has nowhere to turn than the person helping out.
A polite thank you is just that, but it's common courtesy to offer a thank you for any deed done that isn't a forced or a rehearsed mantra.

Not saying thank you says a lot more about you! ......................... and not good things in my opinion! There have been many times in my life when I have been brought to tears by a thank you and they always bring a smile to my face, eventually!

Festive greetings!

Please may I ask what has prompted your question?

Writing thank you too many times in a paragraph can come over as being insincere.

I was brought up to say please and thank you, that has not changed. In certain quarters on the internet sometimes irreverence and banter can replace a thank you if everyone appreciates it. I have seen this used with good results
