Default Airbag Light

Looking for some advise my MG/ZT has been running first class on Monday we went down to Newcastle from Glasgow for a couple of days every thing was fine coming home today all was fine we pulled into Lockerbie for chips,
then when we got back on the road my airbag light started flashing on and off then for the best part of the run it was ok then as I got nearer to home it would come on again but it seems to be when I accelerate it will come on
and then off again can any one help me out as I don't have a clue.

Under both front seats there are two connectors, one blue, one yellow, these are for the seat belt pre-tensioners and airbags respectively. These connectors are notorious. Disconnect the battery, radio code to hand if needed, and leave disconnected for about 30 mins. Go to the underseat connectors, disconnect and reconnect several times, use an electrical contact cleaner on them if you have it. Reconnect them, some have used a cable tie to secure them. Reconnect the battery and, hopefully, all will be well.

As Stevestrat has already said, most likely to be the under seat connectors - mine have done it a few times... a quick spray with electrical contact cleaner should sort it out.

I would suggest that if working on the connectors doesn't get rid of the light you get along to a T4 and get the reason properly diagnosed. I fought an airbag light for weeks before giving up and going to see Brian down in Newcastle. The cause turned out to be a duff seat belt pre-tensioner, I'd have either gone nuts or have spent a lot of money before finding that out myself.

I agree the most likely cause is the under seat connectors, I had that problem if anybody adjusted their seat. In the end I pushed the connectors tight together and taped them so tight they'd have difficulty in working loose.
