water logged diesel ECU repair?
I just went with a friend of mine who is a professional mechanic to look at a customer's ZT diesel auto.
It's a late model one with the different headlamps. The rev counter was going nuts and there was a weird buzzing noise so I suggested checking the plenum chamber. It was full of water. There is a power relay in the same box as the diesel ECU which submerged and the bottom inch of the ECU was wet. We opened up the engine ECU and there are signs of water damage on the bottom inch of the circuit board. He will have a go at cleaning it up gently with a tooth brush and some solvent tomorrow, and replace the power relay. If it doesn't work then who do we contact for a repair? It's a nice car with good bodywork and interior and only about 50k miles on it , big wheels etc so worth saving. |
