Thanks Chris.

Weird looking things!

24 of them. If I manage to break all 24 and bend the trims, it'll cost £207.60 to replace everything.

PS. Clips available in China for $1 each.

There are also 8 holes underneath the kick plates - do these go to the outer sill as per the 12 holes behind the trim clips, or do they go to another interior section altogether. See https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-ALA500140.

If they do go to another section I wonder if it's worth squirting some wax in there too? (Although it would mean replacing the nylon kick plate retaining sockets - 8 per side).

As far as I know, no one has experienced trouble with the inner sills
I don't think those holes would go to the outer sills , but I don't know for sure !

Thumbs down

DDQ100460 - item 11 https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-DDQ100460

I took one of the chrome sill trims off today and all 12 clips broke. So that's £50.40 to replace them (assuming the other side does the same). This car is really pushing its luck.

Chris - I emptied an entire can of Dynax S50 into one sill via the 12 trim clip holes and the excess ran out of all 5 drain holes in little rivers (literally!). Now I'm wondering if there's any point in spraying any more in through the drain holes - or have I already fully coated the inner sill. What do you think?

As far as I am aware, the outer sills can be sprayed by moving the arch liners over and putting the 360 lance in from the end. It's a bit of a squeeze but the lance went in the full length (2 foot - 60cm approx) when I tried it. It didn't seem to snag on anything. I also sprayed up through the jacking points on my previous car. I remember the rust prevention folks back in the 60's and 70's (Ziebart etc) used to drill holes in the panels and then spray the preservative in. The holes were then painted and plugged with plastic/rubber caps. I take it in the age of pre-stressed areas that this is no longer acceptable for sills etc?

Yes, but the point is - if wax is already running out of the drain holes, does the outer sill need any more?

The jacking points will get a good dose as soon as more S50 arrives. (I had one new can fail to work due to a fault somewhere inside).

Blink, I suspect you have well coated the outer sill , but also suspect that the dripping from the drain holes is just run-through from various gaps along the bottom of the sills and that you have not coated the inner sills I have no evidence for this other than the fact that Rave says you need to do both
Roverbarmy , you can indeed spray the outer sill using the hole behind the wheel arch liner ( I have used this ) but you won't get past the first / rear jacking point or the foam pad next to it . However , it is usually only this length that rusts !
My own feeling is to use every access point that you have

I agree with both of these - so I'll blast the drain holes too (as soon as the parts I've already done have dried - it's still a bit sticky at present).
