Smile Rover 75 parking sensor. Help fitting.

Hi All.

Just got myself a Rover 75 1.8 Turbo Club SE saloon on a 53 plate. It’s a little longer in length then I am use to, so I obtained a set of Rover Parking sensors in the same colour as the car. But here is the problem , there is no connector in the right-hand side of the boot, so I cannot just plug it in and go. I’ve checked that the lead has not been tuck away out of sight, no luck there!
So has anybody else had the same problem and has they been able to overcome this problem (without buying an after market unit.) By the way love the car, loads of people tried to talk me out of it but when test drove it that was it, well and I was truly bitten.

Raggie

PS The guy I got them from will take then back, but I really would like to keep them.

You need to buy a controller.

Hi Nick.

Many thanks for your reply. I have the controller, four sensors and there holders, speaker and all the cables, but no socket on in car to plug it in.

Rick.

Oh I see.. I guess you could hard wire it straight into the reverse light wires, as I did with my after market controller.

PS
Welcome

Hi Nick

Thanks again Nick, I've been trying to sort out the circuit for the connector to the box but not quite got there yet. I'am ok with the sensors input thats straight foreward. I think I've sorted the power side but its the rest I'am struggling with.

The after market systems are pretty good along with the LCD display or the LED display version (great value for money and easy to fit).

Nick! I cant help but noticed you have used a double male spade terminal clip for your positive feed and it looks like its un-shielded (not protected). Is it me or does the clip (positive feed) look close to the metal body panel, only takes for the spade terminal to touched the body (make a earth connection) and cause a short.

Sorry! if I'm being picky but cant help but notice the un-protested live feed.

It's well away from the body, so no problems. Five miniute job to sleeve it, but working 100% OK after two years 20K miles. Well recommended system. The sensors are much neater than the massive OEM sensors lifted from a 1995 Rover 400 .lol.

Sleeve it quick bud! dont take much knocking about for it to touch and blow the little black module box, but as it has been like that for two years (miracle).

I'm with you on the neatest off the sensors with these units, great system's they are.
