We all know you can easily retro fit them but it does ask the question why MG knocked them out in poverty spec!
Easy answer is because they did .

I do know an owner of a blown ZT260 (enter here none SE or poverty spec) that is very happy not to have the extra weight of the SE slowing him down .

I second that.I just don't want all the gadgets, especially traction control on the MK2.

It's nice to have the option of not paying for things on the car that you don't really want.

That's the good thing about a MKI, no traction control

Is £6.5k a reasonable price?

After all these years, I still yearn for a V8 tourer! (And surely, it must be more reliable than the bloomin' BMW Diesel version! :lol

Depends on who you ask.

If you can afford it and willing to pay it's a good price.

It's a Tourer, not too many miles, should fetch 6k+ imho
It has service history as well which helps

Tourers are ultra rare - only 2 on the market at the moment. IMO its good value for £6.5k....

Given that the other option on the Bay and Autotrader is an SE with twice the miles for £8250, £6.5 does look good. Shame it's so far from me! The Solar Red ZTT260 is in Slough, and therefore much closer...

Are either of these cars known to the club?

If its the car you want and the price is good, is it worth travelling for?

You could always ask a a local forum member to view the car if possible?

Apart from the tyres, it looks like its been owned and looked after by an enthusiast, so should be a good'un.

On the other hand the red one is high miles, but local and an SE, which is quite alot of equipment. Maybe use the high miles to haggle the price a little?

The 260s Forum is the place to ask if either of them are known - I think the owner of the red one is on the forum.....

Good suggestions, thanks.

I need to persuade the missus that it is a good idea now. Thing is though, she'd use it to commute to work, which may be a good way of burning money in stop/start traffic conditions. Not that any car is particularly economical under such conditions of course, unless fitted with stop/start.

Is there a buyers guide/ common problems list on the net somewhere?
