Is it possible to download code reference descriptions? or does code reader also describe the fault?

Code readers usually come with a code book and a similar list here.
But this is Ford Based for the ZT 75 V8's
There are a more specific lists on here too : http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...8&postcount=48

You missed P260 Jules. I think Seventy Seven may be getting this fault as well.

P260 Owner should be in the Two-Sixties as well as the 75&ZT Club.

Cheers Tim
Seems the code lists are different depending on where you look.
The list above is not to be considered Gospel or indeed finite.

Isn't it amazing how you can get misled!! It was my ZT-T 260 that Jules was looking at with the rev limit problem. Error codes kept showing fuel pump module problems. But we then started to get intermittent parking sensor failure and rhs indicator bulb failure (all bulbs flashing though!) It even seemed to be linked to playing around with a large multi connector under the bonnet.
In the end we traced the earths for all 3 systems and found it to be a common point. Someone had fitted a 12V cigarette lighter socket on the boot and used the same earthing point and forgotten to tighten the bolt back up. hence intermittent faults -- bolt tightened and all is well again !! Nice to be able to rev it again. Shame about the fuel consumption though!! :-)

Yes indeed !
Earth point C 0707-2 to be precise. (8mm headed bolt only in by one thread!!) Just above & in front of NAV computer.
Side trip had to be removed for access.
The multi ring terminals for:

Earth for the Distance Control D184 reverse sensor module,
Fuel Pump Module &
RH trafficator cluster.

So the Fuel module was suffering from intermittent earth thereby upsetting the fuel pressure. ECU would then latch into limp mode & then a few trips later would cure itself.

Sometimes we would clear the Engine MIL lamp ourselves with a cheap code reader just to progress with fault finding.
A T4 would not have located this fault, sometimes you just have to persevere with good old wiring diagrams (from Rave CD)

A man made fault cuased by a retro fit AUX 12 Volt socket.
Neither fault codes P1233 P1237 have returned, so another successful conclusion

well done for persevering, and it goes to show how we need to be careful when working on our cars.
