Default Driver's seat electrics

Hi all

I'm about to swap my driver's seat for a replacement. Mine is electric/heated, no memory. The new one has memory.

Is this a 'plug and play' or will it need an electrician to sort?

Many thanks

If the indicators or other systems seem to go a little crazy after you've plugged the memory seat in pull the battery + off for half an hour that will reset the K bus and should be ok

Plug and play, but you will need a quick T4 session to code the seat in so that it will work from your key.

Apologies for being dense, but I do not understand the relationship between a T4 session and the seat electrics and key.
Does this mean that the seat will not move without a T4 session?
Thanks

The keys each have a memory position allocated to them via the zcs coding of the cars networks.
This will not work without a t4 or toaf session... otherwise seats will function ok..

klarzy, am I right in thinking that if there are 2 keys, each key would move the seat to a different position when the car is unlocked if the drivers are tall and short and would normally position the seat differently?
The memory buttons on the side of the seat, would I be right in thinking they wont need T4?

I'll try....

The three memory buttons on the side will work without needing a T4. What will not work without T4 - is the function where the seat will move as you unlock the car, to a position to suit each key, or rather the key owner's preset seat position.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

you can have up to 3 key memories,
You need to see which key is which but if you press and hold down the open button on your key fob the seat will move to that position.
I had memory one set to my key and memory 2 set to the missus.
Memory 3 was lay flat so i could kip in the car...

this is the bit which may not work if the memory seats are not active in the ZCS code that tells the cars computers which elements are present so that communications is optimised.
