Default Clutch bleeding

Well, after todays unsuccessful attempt at bleeding, looks like I'm going to have to find a replacement master cylinder

No matter how many times pedal was pumped fluid remained in reservoir, nothing came out the bleed screw. Now I kind of assume that the slave would also be either devoid or rather low on fluid, so the whole lot would still need bleeding once a new master was fitted yes?

The cylinders come prefilled so shouldn't need bleeding. Once the fluid has got low enough not to enter the Master clylinder, providing it is the master that has leaked and not the slave, then fluid should remain in the slave. Unless that has a leak too.

That's what I thought, but even with bleed nipple removed there was no sign of fluid there at all!

Oh yes! I may have another look next weekend in case there is something causing a blockage as I winced when I rang Xpart this morning for a price!

Just removed master, and eurgh! As well as fluid, it had a load of black gunk in the bottom, and appeared to have a good coating of a grey grease in places where you'd not expect to see it!

Was hoping to get the replacement master today, but guy wasn't there, so arranged to collect next Sat, but I forgot got friends coming for weekend!

Would it be reuseable if you cleaned it out?

Possibly, I've dismembered it, piston looks ok, seals aren't perished or split/worn, but seeing as manifold is off and in bits, it's not going anywhere soon!
