Default V8 IPK question

Just saw this over on .org:

I don't think the non V8 IPKs ever show this. Is it a digital speed readout or something? The font looks different also.

Do the V8's have a slightly different IPK?

Yes the V8s have a digital speed readout but no fuel computer. Too scary

Thanks for that - I've learned something new today

The speedo in the pic is showing over 87k. I wonder has this car by itself caused the polar icecaps to melt . Not to mention the damage done to the owners wallet

If that pic is of "scarlet fevers" motor that is for sale. It was a mileage accumulation car from Longbridge that he bought from the factory after it closed.

It did 60K on mileage accumulation under my supervision. I think it had 77K or so on it when it was sold.

What was your job in Longbridge, Westfield or 75?

Do you work for NAC now

Very novel the digital speedo
It takes the info from the K bus

If you had a PDA and an I bus interface you could display all sorts of things on the move on it!

The Ford engine ECU did not support providing MPG info so I guess they added to speedo reading to the obc as otherwise it would not have shown much.

Scarlet has been trying to sell his for a long time now
I miss mine but not the fuel costs

I'm intrigued, Keith.

What kind of interface and software would you need?

I'm aware of Rolf's stuff: http://www.reslers.de/IBUS/.

These interfaces will not work on a PDA, will they?. I wasn't aware that PDAs had USB or serial ports.

On a slightly different note, is it the IPK or car electronics generates the digital speedo readout - it would look nice on my 75 . I always thought all IPKs were essentially the same.

I think it's quite likely.

Brings to mind another high miler, a 75 V8 in white that SMC had at the end of 2005. Keith Adams did a write up on it but I can't find it on his site.

Most assumed it was a Police demonstrator. Can you tell us more?

Tom
