Morning all, Brrr It's a frosty morning here, I slid on the icy decking & nearly broke my neck getting the milk in. looks like we'll be getting some sunshine today.

Mornin' Andy, I hope you're well sir. I seem to have a big empty drive again after the Chevy has gone. it was always full of 'project cars' for as long as I've lived there.

Morning all - went out at 8.45 this morning to do the weekend shopping. Sheer bliss!
Acres of empty car park, loadsa trollies, plenty of space to amble round the supermarket aisles, no queues at the checkouts. Better still - got back to the car and there was no-one parked at either side

Hi Wes, It was a compromise after all. I couldn't talk my missus around to a full on BEV as she had some misguided views on them so as both of us will be driving it it was a joint 50/50 decision.

I was finding it harder & harder to get in & out of the Rover because of the low seating and we needed something that had a higher seating position & large enough to fit my parents wheelchairs in.

The choices in our budget for that criteria were a bit slim on the ground so we're picking up a Kia Niro hybrid SUV on Tuesday

I had a test drive a few weeks and it ticked all the boxes really, you set off in electric mode (there is no starter motor as such) and then it seamlessly shifts into the 1.6 Atkinson cycle petrol engine, very very smooth & quiet.

I think it shares the same Hybrid set up as Kia's sister company Hyundai Ioniq.

The VED is £90 , the insurance is over £200 cheaper than I'm paying on the Rover

It's €uro 6 and has a ton of toys, blind spot assist, lane keep assist, reverse assist, 8" SatNav media screen, reversing camera and does 5 million mile to the gallon lol

I've just been over to Bolton Kia dealership to sign some papers & I'm picking it up on Tuesday morning. Midnight black.

Nice choice Ian, I think some Niro models have a Harmon Kardon sound system, I've actually heard this system and it sounds amazing.

Does yours have the full black leather?

Thanks Freddie & Wes, Yes full black leather & 18" alloys. I would have loved the PHEV Niro but it was way out of my budget.

I asked how much for the Rover (still 9 months MOT) in part exchange, there was a sharp intake of breath and they said it's just scrap value & offered £100

They did have a scrappage scheme but it was only on select models & if you used their finance.

Sounds about right, all they are interested in getting you to sign up for finance, thats where the money is.

Afternoon all, It ain't half gone parky out there, Gonna be a frost tonight.

Looks like left over pork casserole for tea from yesterday as I've been busy sorting out the garage so the Rover can stay in there as well as the new Kia until I decide what to do with it.
