Question Car will not start.

Moved my car last night after a month parked up ready to take it to the spray shop this morning to rectify the damage when I was reversed into and it will not start. I used the spare key which I have never used before
Turns over no problem. It is a 2005 diesel.
Anything obvious I should look at.

I am not the most technical person.
Many thanks
Mike

Unplug and replug the sensor on top of the fuel filter under the bonnet.
Tap the fuel pump next to it with a screwdriver.
Make sure the plugs to the pump, fuel rail sensor and cam / crank sensors are tight

Thanks for the advice. Tried that with no luck.
Looked at the plenum which was dry.
AA man turned up and managed to get the car to fire up with EastStart.
Connected up his lap top which said it was a low pressure feed from the ITP. He will Email me the fault code but it looks like I need a new ITP. I saw a post from MarinsBrian saying that they never fail but I do not know where else to look.

When did you last change the fuel filter?

If the car fails to start again, listen through the open fuel filler cap to hear if the pump is running or not.

If it isn't then you need to check whether it is getting a supply voltage, and if it is then it points towards the pump packing up.

Filter was changed 16K miles ago.
I could not hear the pump though that could be an age thing. When we turned the engine over the laptop indicated pressure increased to about, from memory, 4 bar. I gather it should be 12 bar.

Hi Mike.
I note from above you say your tried unplugging the fuel senor connected to the fuel filter and ( klarzy )says Tap the fuel pump next to it with a screwdriver, you reply I did that so therefore does your car have an under bonnet pump/ if so remove the plug connector from the UBP spray with contact cleaner push on & off a few times, see if it works also remember if you do have the UBP how much diesel do you have in the car, disregard if you do not have UBP

Being an 2005 diesel it does not have a UBP. Will try spraying some contact cleaner on plug.
Tank is half full

Hi Dave - how are you? Have not seen you for some time as I have not been up to South Reston.
How do you do a leak back test? Laptop says I am only getting between 3 and 4 bar on low pressure feed.
