Unhappy Twanging noise from rear of car

I have just noticed recently that sometimes going over a bump i sometimes here a sound that sounds like a spring twanging from the rear end but only sometimes exhaust seems ok any ideas cheers

broken coil spring seems likley.

if it is the rear springs i had a look on Rimmers website and it is £130 pound for each spring and they are colour coded as under the rear seat,however i see in the euro carparts website they are only about £50 each but not colour coded.Do you have to buy the proper colour code for your car,i notice it did say on the website that they are not suitable for the ZT many thanks a confused Sean

it could be spring sean but car should be bit lower on side where its broken if u have a branch of Formula One Auto Centres they will do a fre check for you and theie prices are good too I had both front discs and pads replaced for £100 less than my usual garages price

car ride height seems allright same level on both sides

ok i checked no F1 in plmouth sadly but kwikfit offers free checks too if the ride is level seems bit unlikely spring you could do prssesure test and push down on each side see if it bounces back ok but getting it checked by a garage or a friendly mechanic is safest thing to do I think when I had spring go it ripped open a tyre too thank goodness i was just pulling awy from kerb!!
