Default Well at least my car broke down at the garage...

Today my car was due to have the air con and tracking done, just as I pulled in I had trouble selecting reverse which I've had before, but this time it was more serious, the gear shift didn't feel right and as it turns out it's stuck in gear! The clutch still disengages and my cables are still attached, at least at the box side.

I'm actually quite thankful this has happened at the garage, it saves the hassle of recovery and at least the issue is now there rather than hiding in the background.

No matter what needs doing it's not the end of the car and it will be back soon.

The garage seemed pretty certain it was the gear cable after all, they checked it out and said it was severely frayed. I have one on order anyway.

If the slave was gone, surely I'd not be able to push the clutch and disengage?

The cable has frayed where it slides in and out, and the frayed bits were catching which prevented the cable from returning to its normal position.

Because its an early ZT I need to buy the whole assembly of cables and shifter. The cable ULS100150 is near impossible to find on its own as according to Rimmerbros it was never sold separately.

Thankfully I found the whole assembly for decent price.
