Hi Rosebud, glad you enjoyed your stay on the Maltese Islands.
We have been visiting regularly for over 25 years now, this is my 28th visit and my missus has visted two more than me with a couple of surprise visits to our Maltese friends. We stayed for 4 days at Nadur on Gozo and visted many fine restaurants. The cousin of one of our friends is a TV chef on Malta television. We really enjoy our time with some very special friends and the scenery is something else especially on Gozo. JYJ |

Malta calling again
We're back again at our 2nd home Malta, recharging the batteries and the heat certainly feels better on the old joints but soon it will be back to the cold and we will also need to get our caravan uplift arranged.
It's strange on this visit as I've only spotted one 75 so far and that was even with our now regular visit to Gozo. I have however spotted many other BL cars like Marinas, Montegos, Maestros and the like and even a tatty looking MG Metro. Why are all the models beginning with the letter M ? strange or what! Anyway me being me I'll keep on looking out for 75's JYJ |

Love Malta, I have spent many a holiday on the Island, the only place where you used to see plenty of cars with baldy tyres and nobody cared, plenty of bumps when they had a little rain.
Now they are in the EEC things have changed a lot, and also cost a lot more. True what they say about Malta they drive in the shade, but great people. |

I'm back home again to the cool sunshine .
I just missed out on the Mdina Classic Grand Prix with some crackers taking part. I spotted and photographed at close range about 6 original Bugattis at Golden Bay. They had gone when we got back to the car after lunch but they looked very good, don't know I'd like one though as not too much room inside and those cable brakes would be a worry JYJ |

Back again visiting our friends, but what a change in the weather. We've had storms since arriving with rain every day. Earlier in January there were some cars damaged with large hail.
Yesterday we did manage out for a drive and spotted a 75 with MG front in a sorry state sitting by the roadside in St Pauls' Bay. It was real mess with both front end damage side damage and even suspension damage but it was not Maltese registered but BG which may be Bulgaria ? I will post some photos once I get home. JYJ |

Love Malta
Hi Jim. Must admit Malta is our favorite place, have been going there for the last 9 years, The people are great and are slowly adjusting to the E U interference. All the old busses have gone now except for the odd tourist excursion, it's not the same getting on board an Arriva bus. We will be out at the end of March. Enjoy your hols.

Well after some 30 odd visits over the last 26 years I dont' think I will go back in February as it was cold & wet plus I got a puncture on the hire car after hitting a pothole in the rain, I even buckled the wheel.
Anyway we're back going back in April for a couple of weeks and I know it's always nice then. My friend just got his boat out of the water to get the barnicles off it so hopefully we shall be getting wet in a better way in April. Meanwhile here are some shots of that damaged 75 I spotted last week. Last edited by Jim Jamieson; 16th February 2013 at 19:09.. Reason: add photo |

No it's definitely a 75 but it has an MG front end. It's an early Connoisseur with ash grey leather, Rover badge up on boot and Rover imprinted into No plate cover but it does not have the Rover logos on the rear pillar inserts or torpedo badges on the doors.
Here is another shot taken at the front, Note the shannon tube lying at the front wheel and the chromed mirrors have been dulled down with laquer I think! Also it is not Malta registered (BG) but appears to have been operated by a Malta company until its demise. I don't know whats happening with my PC at the moment as I don't seem to be able to hold open both windows between Photobucket and the forum therefore could only post one photo at a time. JYJ |
