Default Non start new UBP

Hi there my 2003 mg zt 2.0cdti didnt start so called the rac and they diagnosed a faulty UBP because there was a constant live at the plug but it wasnt running, so fitted new intermotor pump and first turn of the ignition i herd it run for about 30secs, still the car didnt start, when cranking over the pump dosnt run atall so i removed the feed to the filter and turned the engine over and no fuel was pumping and no life to pump atall, the evu was damp which is now drying out, is there anyting else i can do thank you.

Clear the plenums before fitting the ecu back in or the same will happen again & if it still doesn't work drop Marinabrian a pm on here to see if your ecu can be saved.

How much fuel is in the tank?

Id also like to mention i used a priming bulb from the return pipe and pumped for a while then the car started but soon stopped, it ran for about 2mins with my foot on the accelerator

Ok will do, i have just under half a tank of a diesel
Just dont undestand why it would run for a bit the first time i installed but not when cranking

Make sure you've removed the plastic caps from the inlet/outlet of the new pump, and check to make sure the ECM isn't swimming in a bath inside the plenum

Hi there ive put a 12v feed to the pump from the battery and it works fine, the ecm was damp so took it out and it is now drying out.

Damage will have been done now I'm afraid, both the CANBUS processor, and the fuel pump relay output driver live at the bottom end of the ECM, and drying it if successful at all will be but a temporary reprieve I'm afraid.

Let me know how you get on, and if you get stuck give me a should as I'm more than happy to undertake an ECM repair for you
