Default I cant enter OBC diagnostics mode ??????

Despite having computer programming qual, and that fact I live on the internet - I cant enter OBC diagnostics mode ??????

Quote:
Rover 75/MG ZT - Diagnostics access via the Instrument Pack

To enable the OBC diagnostics:

a) Press and hold the trip reset button.
b) Put key into ignition switch and turn to KLR (Ignition switch
position #1)
c) Your LCD display will show something like this "test 1.-"
d) Press the reset button till you get to "test 19.-". (19.0 unlocks all
the features)
e) Wait for display to show "Log I -off" and press the reset button
f) With no delay press Trip Reset .....
At this point (1st press of reset) the display goes back to default trip mileage????

Quote:
....several times to select one of the
following functions:

1 Car, Engine and cluster data

1.0 VIN serial number
1.1 K-number
-----------------etc etc
7 Temperature and Speed
7.0 021+ Coolant/Engine temperature (21C)
7.1 130 Ambient/Outside temperature - chg met 5 pts. 125/130/135
7.2 Engine speed / Current RPMs 1/min
7.3 Vehicle speed / Current Speed in km/hour
......
What am I missing????

I just want to see Coolant/Engine temperature before my head gasket explodes )

The only thing it could be is you're too slow. I've not used it for a little while but you have to be pretty quick on the button or it defaults back to your trip and odometer.

Are you holding the trip button down whilst turning the key?

Try again, as soon as you press the trip button for 'log I off' just keep pressing the trip button.

I'm sorry you can't get into it, must be so frustrating. I have been into the functions fine and yes got the engine temp function. I see you have a 1.8T, to be honest if you are worried about the engine temperature I would invest in and fit a Hans Gauge ASAP.

See link http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ght=hans+gauge

When you start pressing immediately on the log 1-off message, the screen looks the same as it did before you got to test-19, the numbers should start from 1 increasing again. You stop at 7 and the coolant temperature should display. You're accessing the same K-bus signals that the Schaaper gauge uses. All button presses should be at a rate of about 2/second. If you're too slow, the trip will revert.

Just tried it when i got home and it worked this time - thanks

Just got home from work and temperature reading 105 which seems hot (hence why fan keeps coming on more than my last 1.8T)

Is 105 too hot - will it blow a gasket?
Should I try radiator cleaner?
Maybe should be in new thread
