Without sounding stupid if someone says "cat back" does that include the cat or not?
My rear box is rotting too although my car sounds poo now the outer shell has fell off - it sounded more like V8 with that rumbling! |

Cat isn't normally part of Pipe and rear box/boxes.

Cheers - so presumably I'd get a new cat as part of the system if I ask for a "cat back". In which case it would explain some of the high costs as cats can be expensive even on their own.
It's just that the phrase itself has confused me but I'm easily confused! |

The CAT is about £375 + VAT for Genuine OEM Converter assembly-manifold exhaust system - Service Line Part from serial No: 255740.
or £411.74 + VAT for earlier Converter assembly-manifold exhaust system - Service Line Part. This doesn't include any other boxes!! |

Craig (petey57),
I've just replaced the back box on my 75 saloon. The exhaust system fitted at the factory is a single, composite item. Therefore to fit the genuine MG Rover replacement back box use a pipe cutter and attach it using the genuine MG Rover joining sleeve. There's no need to even think about the catalytic converter or any of the other silencers. My MOT tester tells me that no matter how rusty an exhaust is, it won't fail the MOT test unless it's perforated. Simon.
