Do planes really not have a tracker / black box beacon fitted to all of them yet ?

An aviation expert said in a news interview that there is a sonar beacon attached to the black boxes which starts to send a signal for around a month as soon as it comes into contact with sea water.
I believe that is the way the debris from the Air France aircraft was found.

There was a very interesting programme last week on the Air France loss. Lots of contributory factors were explained very well. The wreckage was found from that loss, hopefully the same will happen with this.

It would appear, at this point, that terrorism isn't a factor. The investigation will have to run its course and come to a logical conclusion to provide the answers the families will need.

i am sure they will find in the end.they are just looking in the wrong place.it would seem to me that perhaps their radar may not be that accurate or no one was watching it at the time.as after pan am 103 blew up several large blips where noted on the screen.

So, one week earlier, Putin phones his mates in China, "Excuse me comrades, can you do me a favour & divert the press for a while, got a little something on in Crimea"
Me, a conspiracy theorist never
Foreign nationals, missed, or not on the plane, stolen European passports, etc
Just my opinion.

miltary radar has tracked it two hundred miles off where it should have been heading back along the coast

Surely though even of it had blown up, something should have show on the radar. There would have been large bits falling, it surely would not have vaporized in mid air.

The Wiki suggests that they are looking in the wrong place. A Malaysia Airlines spokesperson apparently said that the last conversation between the flight crew and air traffic control in Malaysia had been around 01:30, and stated that the plane had not disappeared from air traffic control systems in Subang until 02:40, which is long enough for the plane to have been flying across Vietnam.

When radar contact with the aircraft was lost it was estimated to be carrying enough fuel for an additional 7.5 hours of flying time.

If it had carried on flying until 02:40hrs as you say and had stayed on the same track of 025 Degrees then it would have been by then just South West of Ho Chi Min City, near Can Tho...

Pic shows position after just over 1 hour and just before it went off radar....
