75 ownership has been short for me!
I have decided to dispose of my 75 already.
I only paid £300 for it as I knew the clutch release bearing was noisy. At least now I know what to look for next time around, as you will see it is suffering from some well know 75 issues. Its a lovely car, Wedgewood blue, Connie SE CDT and I am a bit sad about it all to be honest. I have wanted a 75 for many years. Bodily its good, solid sills and underneath is very good with inly light surface rust on the rear chassis. The engine also runs very well indeed. However, heres what it needs with my estimated costs. Clutch, slave and master £700 incl labour Steering rack £125, havent added labour as everything will be out of the way for the clutch job anyway Rear upper suspension arm: £70 a side 2nd hand, estimated £150 labour Fuel tank strap £60, I can do this. So thats £1200 all in. £1500 could buy me a really decent 75 Connie diesel. So you can see my position! |

Give me a few weeks to check the arms on a car I'm getting and if good I'll do a pair of used arms for £70 plus postage.
PM me in two to 3 weeks if interested to see if I have checked the car over if you can do the fuel strap there is a good chance you can do the arms macafee2 |

I sorted my fuel tank straps for a couple of quid. A local scrappy had some lengths of galvanised steel that were virtually the same width as the old tank straps. It was a quick and easy job to do.

I know how problems with cars can put you on a downer, particularly involving the cost of repairs. But the problems can be worked through, have a re-think and consider options (some of which have been posted above). 'Our' cars are getting on a bit now and many owners will come to the point (or have already reached that point) where money needs to be spent to keep 'our' cars going. There are many members of this club that will help out where ever possible with advice and can do repairs competently at reasonable cost.
Just think of summer days, driving your car and the enjoyment of it all.

Stick with it we have done all the things you mentioned at a fraction of the cost quoted.
Go with Duncan, no one better up your way, I’m sure you will be pleasantly surprised.
