Default Rear courtesy light removal-please help!

Hi, just joined the forum, having recently bought a ZT 190 which was SORNed for over a year. I've already found the information here to be very useful, sorting out my mirror switches and number plate light.

My next tasks include getting the rear courtesy light working. I had a quick look at it this evening but couldn't easily remove it. Does it just pull out or are there screws holding it in place?

The switches are making contact but won't stay on, I wonder if this is another case of a dirty contact. Is this a common fault?

Thanks, look forward to getting out and about in a couple of weeks once it's tested & taxed again.

welcome to the forum
The front courtesy light has 2 screws, the rear does not.
There may be a bit of movement to push it forwards or backwards and it then pulls down. I cant recall but either the front or rear of the light will pull down easier then the other.

Check for rust on the electric rails on the back of the light cluster, this could be a problem

Thanks macafee. Didn't want to pull to hard on it in case of causing more damage. I'm guessing it's probably something worn in there that's causing the lights to fail. I'll take another look as soon as I get the major things sorted for MOT.

probably the contacts where it touchs the bulb...

just scratch both contacts with a pencil or something and they will work again.

Cheers super s. Don't think it's the bulb holders as they were working until I switched them off. Then they wouldn't turn back on again, just cleaning when I press the button!

Also, can anybody point me to how I pass on Thanks to replies?

The front interior light cover needs a small screwdriver in the indent. The cover will then lever off.

The rear light cover will detach from the headlining using just your fingers.

I'd strongly recommend getting hold of a Haynes manual, which details all the sort of things you'll be looking at.

EDIT: I believe the 'Thanks' button will appear on your screen after you've made ten posts.

In that case have a "Thanks" from me. I'll take a look for a manual as well
