But..
I don't understand the Q plate. It's still basically the same car with a different roof. In the past, people used to cut roofs off Beetles and Minors but they kept their reg, this seems a bit unfair.
It's also nice to see the changes Gerry has made since we first saw it, the only parts I don't like are the switch pack and the MK1 and 2 bumpers. |

It's special indeed. I believe the Q plate was issued because it is a mix of Rover and BMW 3 series parts. It was mentioned in the build thread.
Pity it wasn't mine |

There's a nice write-up of this and a mention of Gerry's other creations in the latest Practical Classics...

The issue of "Q plates" seems quite arbitrary. When I was building my Ginetta G31 most people were allowed to keep the registration of the donor vehicle. However when I registered mine through the Chelmsford Essex office I was told it would be getting a Q plate because that's how they interpreted the rules. At the time the prefix letter Q was a number of years in front of the current new registration numbers being issued and when people asked I just said Q stands for Quick ...... |

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful lines, like the interior too. Incredible design and fabricating skills
Only thing, does he need an Arctic handbrake compensator fitted? |
