From reading previous posts, I believe it was just a lot of little things one after the other. Not to mention he adores the colour (He's not here to respond ). With the possible handbrake shoe, that will likely be just one of those things that year and tear shows up, but has added to the heartache of the rest of that cars problems he has had to sort.

Don't see the point in scrapping a perfectly good car just because of a 20 minutes hand brake shoe repair !
People have been hung drawn and quartered on here for less than that statement
Can someone offer to save it ?

Took the 'spare' car for mot yesterday (an ebay bought-for-parts that I've been using the last two years as there was little wrong with it), failed on two tyres (a cut and one rotating the wrong way which I knew), a front suspension ball joint which I'm currently replacing, see separate post, and rot in the inner and outer sills at the rear. So it was immediately round to the welders who fixed it while I waited. Not a pretty job, but then the car in not intended to be restored, just patched up as necessary to keep roadworthy as long as practicable.

Prepared the MG ZT by putting it up onto ramps & axle stands, ready for it's Autumn underside inspection, which in turn also covers it's inspection for the mot in January.

Tomorrow will be an early start weather dependant, inspection and any work needed to be carried out could go into Monday, hopefully nothing to drastic will need doing.

Well AndyN01 and I failed to do the drop links lol, we couldn't get the old ones off, but we did get the airbag sensor on Bones, so that's another job to tick off the still huge list for Bones! Got home and put all the carpet kick strips etc back and she's looking tidy inside now. Pleased to say that when we lifted the carpet to do the sensor it was still dry. Going to see how much it rains tomorrow, then check the V6 in the hopes the windscreen has cured that too!

Well done Dawn, did you try a 14mm spanner on the flats of the drop link instead of trying to undo the nut from the top?

Andy tried but he said it qas like a gorilla fitted it lol! I don't know whete to take her for that now. Local places *should* be able to do it but based on past performance I am not convinced.

Just went for another MOT, and she passed again with flying colors. The mechanic only recommended to clean and paint the brakelines underneath the cars. At the mounting brackets, there was a very vague sign of some surface rust forming. Better do it now then wait until they need to be replaced. Everything else was just fine.
