No, not confused. Fixed a lot on my car myself already. And it was that I was asking; if there was a EGR valve on petrol engines in general, not if it was in the K-series petrol engines as you thought. I would have specifiied K-series in that case.

Hi Eirik,

Welcome. I'll go out on a limb and suggest you may have a leaking o-ring on a fuel rail or somewhere like that. Probably a small enough leak that it's indication has evaporated by the time you've shut the engine off and started poking around to find it. Probably not an emergency situation, but worth looking for.

There have been some threads here recently about this that have been very detailed and helpful.

The surge could be a cracked vacuum hose. By this age they are getting quite dried out and can easily crack at the nipples they are pushed onto and even tight bends sometimes. On my bikes I replace vacuum hoses with bulk fuel hose where it will fit (outside diameter) and even step the quality up to fuel injection rated hose where there must be tight bends (to help avoid kinking).

Around here all the auto parts stores have all the normal sizes of regular and fuel injection rated fuel hose on reels. Just pick your size, type and length that you want. Should be like that in most places, I think. I always buy extra. There is often some other use for it like sticking a spark plug in the end of a short piece of hose to thread into a deep recess in a motorcycle cam cover or shielding a wire or other hose from rubbing where it shouldn't.

Check your boost hose as well to make sure it’s not popped off or leaking air.
