Do yourselves favour, and simply buy them directly from China yourselves on Taobao or Aliexpress. If they turn out to be any good perhaps DMGRS can stock them? |

The plastic part fails if you fit normal jubilee clips which create a pinch point and collapses the plastic upon tightening them up usually too much. SAIC fit spring clips with the plastic t-piece which give an even 360 degree grip around the plastic avoiding pinching/collapsing the plastic. The usual timeline to failure of the plastic version is that the crimped end of large hoses on top of the t-piece start to lose tension over the years and small coolant staining leaks appear around the area, the owner cuts the clips off and fits jubilee clips in place and overtightens which cuts into the poor quality turbo model hose material too easily. The plastic piece distorts over time and leaks re-occur. Owner then starts looking around and blames the t-piece for the failure. Another reason for the failure can be when any engine work is undertaken such as the elastomer on the head gasket blows and the head is removed, the tiny plastic pipe for the turbo coolant feed gets wraxed by heavy hands. Bottom line is of course the alloy version will help minimise this issue, but it will never take away the fact that if you have a tiny leak of coolant you need a coolant level tank indicator fitted. That's the best safeguard for any model petrol or diesel. |

Tazoautoparts is a good supplier of these oddities.
I'm not affiliated but he offers all this and even helped me get the 6 version of the thermostat housing as OHs has sprung a bit of a leak there and wasn't 100% an mgr housing would fit ... Pretty sure it will but they did modify it. |
