Door won't open
Hi,
I wonder if someone can help, my drivers door is locked and I'm unable to open it. Neither the key fob, outside or inside handle seems to be able to unlock the door. Of course to change a door lock the door needs to be open so access to the door card screws can be got at. Is there any other way to get the door open? Kind regards, Marc

The only way is to pull the door card off after undoing the screw in the door handle. I've had to do it a few times . It takes quite a bit of effort to remove it with the door closed
You can't do anything about the front screw but you can get the door card loose enough to be able to get your arm in to get to the catch. If you disconnect the threaded rod that comes from the handle from its Nylon clip you should be able to open the door using the interior handle. Last time I did this job the plastic surrounding the front screw broke off which made life a lot easier Russ

Is there no way to lower the glass to the bottom, then using a wedge to open the gap a bit, shine a torch down and pull up the clip with bent wire?

I had similar problem, wound window down, then used a length of thin wood, prodded down a few times in area of lock, opened. If you watch police films, people stealing cars use this method.

Thanks for your suggestions guys.
Managed to force off the door card, which is a start, but still can't seem to get the door to open despite getting my hand behind and pulling the rod or anything attached to the locker mechanism any suggestions? I've also disconnected the plug that goes into the back of the lock and plugged it into a spare unit I bought a couple of years ago to fit if this one actually went which of course it has now. But when it's plugged into the spare unit all it shows from the dash is that a door is open, so I'm wondering if that is also a faulty unit....help!

Just a thought, but probably not workable
Probably a silly thought, but if you insert the blade of the fobkey into the drivers door lock and turn it clockwise, all four door windows and sunroof (if fitted) will open. This may allow a torch light to show the doors internals. Could a hooked wire then be lowered to trip the mechanism?
Of course, the key blade would have to be used to raise the windows to allow repairs after the doorcard has been removed. Possibly not feasible, but if you don’t enquire. |

As said earlier in this thread by BigRuss you need to locate the white plastic clip that is fitted to the lower end of the threaded rod and remove it from the rod. ( the white clip opens up. ) Once you have done this the door should open from the inside handle.
