Also if you go over speed bumps too fast the car will bounce on its suspension, so it will be at its lowest point on the downward bounce and will hit the road either, exhaust, engine tray or u/s the springs or suspension

Bump stops should prevent the car underside from hitting the normal road surface. Just had a thought, does the OP have mudflaps? My front ones will scrape on the road where there are long undulations taken at speed. Not the same as undertray touching pyramid humps taken at walking pace.

Have you checked the road springs to see if they are intact?

Thanks for that Planenut. Just checked mine against Suzublu's data. Mine seems to conform more to MG height, so possibly refitted with MG springs? It's 385mm front and 375mm rear. Anyway, the wheels are coming off this weekend to find out how many new suspension parts I need!

I do have something else hanging down but I can assure you that it’s not scraping on speed bumps.
