Default Remote Locking Distance

All of a sudden the range on the remote locking has dropped off, in as much as I nees to stand next to the car to operate it.

It happens with both keys.....

Fob batteries are ok

Any ideas ?

Mine varies from day to day. I remember jeremy clarkson demonstrating you can increase the range of your key remote by simply holding it to your head and pressing the button. i have tried this and it actually works but you do get some funny looks from passerbys.
I think the receiver for the key remote it's somewhere around the handbrake region which gives it a short range

always thought that holding it by your head just meant it was higher off of the ground and did not have to penetrate the mass of the car to get the signal through.... goes through the glass far easier than what is basically a Faraday cage on wheels...!!

Interference from other remote systems? Wireless doorbells have been known to cause problems.

I think ray you are spot on. Went out in the Mrs zafira last night and she had the same problem. Had to stand with in a couple of feet for it to work.

Tried them both this morning, good as gold !!!!!

believe it or not there is actual science behind it. your head and the fluids in it act as a conducting antenna.

Conduction removes energy, not amplifies or focuses ???

Its used to work with my rover 45 . I've never tried it with the 75 but it. certainly does work ( for what ever reason ).
