Fit an electrical connector (choc-block) onto the spindle, pull the spindle to the required level with pliers, then tighten the choc-block screw against the light housing.

I tried various glues but (I think) due to the type of plastic the cogs are made of wasn't happening. As Ronnie says, remove the cogs, get an electrical screw connector as below and follow the steps:



Slip the tube/screw over the rod, pull the rod out with a pair of pliers to adjust the height and secure with the screw.

thanks for the replies now for the stupid question this works for the left / right adjustment screws too ? as it those on mine that are stuck .

I found that putting a drop of fresh supergloo onto the spindle/cog joint got enough into the crack by capillary action to fix it pretty good. Your mileage may vary though.

Any fix for one will apply to the other. Both up/down and left/right systems have identical mechanisms.
