Probably no gas in it due to a leak?
(compressor will be inhibited)
Go to an AC specialist not Quickfit etc !!

Get the fan sorted (piles written on the subject)

I developed this reliable kit which is more reliable than Rover motor and half the price.

As Jules says, you've lost your refrigerant. This happens when the system isn't used regularly, e.g. once a month all year round.

Find an independent mobile air con. specialist for a proper job. Don't be seduced by the fast-fit outfits' bargain prices.

You'll need to get your radiator fan fixed otherwise the air con. will only blow cold when you're on the move.

Why not?

I've just used this groupon deal for £29.50, the guys were great and I've now got ice cold air conditioning. Also as part of the deal, if the system is leaking and can't be refilled then you can have a full refund.

If the system has been 'empty' for a while, you should have the desiccant pack replaced too.

Hi Martin,

Because they are not informed or trained air conditioning specialists. They have attended a course on the safe handling of refrigerant, but that’s it. They just press a button on an automatic machine and disappear to sell someone some tyres or shock absorbers. As you say, if there’s a problem with your air con. system they’re not interested in diagnosing it, they just refund you and send you on your way. If that’s all you think you need, a refilling service, then fine, but what if your condenser is in poor shape or you have a leak elsewhere? You then end up having to find a proper specialist and pay all over again.

I hope that’s answered your question.

In terms of money no, but I don’t enjoy wasting my time with a bunch of people who don’t know what they’re doing leaving my problem unsolved.

Do you know what I mean Brian?

Iff the gas pressure is low there is a pressure switch in the line that sences the gas pressure if it is low it stops the compressor from becoming engaged. When the regass machine is in operation it pulls out old refrigerant and then it evacuates the system and checks for leaks if it ok ( no leaks detected ) it regasses the system.
