Default I have a battery feed to the boot, is it any use?

Among the many things previous owners have done to my ZT, they put some real heavy duty looking wiring to the boot, for what I would be almost certain was for a sub woofer.

Before I go removing it all together can anyone think of a use for it? maybe it's a good opportunity that I'm not appreciating.

Put a travel fridge in the boot. For the long trips and traffic jams in the summer.

Sub-woofer? tow-bar with 12s and 12n sockets? fit a leisure battery and split charge relay to power your cool box?

As long as it was fitted neatly I don't see any reason to remove it completely. If not in use just disconnect (or pull fuse) at the front end and leave it tidy.

I'm a bit paranoid over insurance, someone I know had thier insurance void over a tiny modification so I'm afraid the take one look at these bright big ass cables and declare it a modification

I doubt it would void your insurance if you declare it. You have an accident, they inspect car and find undeclared mods...... what happens?

Avulon how would you go about doing this? I have the factory fitted tow bar with 12 & 12n.

If you already have a 12s socket then you have a split charge relay or autoswitcher in place already. You'll have to find some way to secure a leisure battery in the boot (i.e. clamp it down so it can't move a mm) and tap into the charge output from the relay to your 12s socket and connect to battery +ve, earth the battery -ve. Now just add a socket to this battery for your cool box and plug it in.

P.S - don't forget to test it properly - you don't want a permanent install like that flattening your main battery!
