Default Leaking rad.

Can an overheated engine cause the radiator to pop.just jacked the car up and saw coolant running down from the fins, but put it back down and it stopped.nothing when starting the engine.im assuming its blown after it dumped its coolant the other night from one of the hoses.what gets to me though its brand new.😡😡

TBH no - i cannot see a radiator failing - especially a new one - if the coolant was really boiling it would have come out through the expansion tank cap -

Mark; what Martin is saying is that the coolant leak is unlikely to be from the radiator unless you are unlucky enough to have been supplied with a faulty one. I would suggest that you ensure that the level in the expansion tank is no higher than the ‘max’ marker and see what happens after a couple of journeys.

When you refilled the cooling system after replacing the hose, did you follow the MG Rover procedure for bleeding it exactly?

Aluminium can be soldered, given the right equipment and expertise.
