I just passed 196,000 miles today.
Yesterday I decided to replace the broken 12n socket that was fitted on the underside of the towbar and kept grounding and bending. I spent nearly 3 hours stripping out and replacing the boot lining to get enough slack on the cable to put it in the new position up by the tow ball. I thought it would take me about 40 minutes!!! |

Today I changed the 'smoked' rear lights for OEM ones that are actually visible at night to other road users, what should've been 10 minutes turned into an hour as the previous owner had sealed the lights with silicon!!! Took all my strength to peel the b***ards off, then I had the lovely task of picking bits of glue and rubber seal with my finger nails, thankfully one of the rear lights supplied to my by Brian had a excellent conditioned seal and I managed to remove one with the seal mostly intact, that one wasn't glued to thoroughly.
Now I need new rear seals...

Finally got round to fixing Simons' walnut surround to the sat nav. While i had the centre console out plugged in the rear blind switch to the loom. Something i would not have tried myself before this forum gave me the confidence. Next on the agenda replace rear shelf.

We have a building site to the north of us. The wind is northerly. Very careful washing and polishing was the order of the day. Plus praying for the wind to turn westerly and let somebody else get all the dust!

Tried to change the gearbox oil but the filler allen bolt head was stripped. Good job I tried it before draining the oil! On to Rimmers for a new plug and will have to use an Easy out tool (But it probably won't be that Easy)

Replaced the handbrake compensator for a lovely modded one from Arctic. Big thanks to Arctic for that.
Handbrake now operates on a steep hill on 3 clicks - 2 clicks on less of an incline. Brilliant - feels showroom new. Also had the air con serviced by a brilliant mobile company in Cardiff called 'Coolcon'. It already worked nice and cold but the compressor was noisy so thought may as well have it serviced. I'm pleased to report the compressor is now barely audible and the chap managed to get the temp at the vents 3C colder than it was before! Productive day! |
