Default How long for a v5 to come?

I bought a car about a month ago. I still haven't had a v5 for it yet.

The trader sent the signed bit off to DVLA.....or did he?

hi,, if u havent had a v5c with 14 days get straight on to dvla.... and tell them/ask where it is!!
Just for info really: but having sold more than my fair share of motors over the years, i was allways surprised just how long it can take the dvla to issue a v5..
But recently (in light of the fines they are so eager to dish out) ive been sending my reg documents back to them as registered post/signed for on delivery/recorded delivery... yes it costs a quid or so,, but amazingly ive had my v5s back in 3-4 days since doing this...

I've had them inside a week, and up to six weeks, sometimes. Hard to predict!

My partner has just bought a new car and hers came within 4 days of completing the 'new keeper' part of the logbook. Shame everything else isn't as speedy in the world of the DVLA...

it depends on the seller when he sends off, if there are any issues like un taxed and speeding ect it will go to him and i think it would have to be him to take the blame as it is his legal duty to send off asap.
I bought a motorbike early last year and still not seen the V5, but the bike is off the road so i am not worried and i have spare v5 that the guy applied for but found the original that i can send off when the bike goes on the road.

But normally as said its 10-14 days

Mine took many weeks,I know some traders wait till they have a few to send off at once,so luck of the draw really.

Normally 10 working days!

If in doubt, always send paperwork off yourself, as you know what most Dealers are like!

Really is hit an miss. Last November I sent off 4 logbooks for a change of address, 2 logbooks in an envelope, so 2 envelopes. Both sent 1st class, both in the same post box, same time.

2 weeks later I got a logbook from 1 envelope, then a couple of days later the 2 from the other envelope, then a week later the final logbook. Not sure how it can take that much longer when they were in the same envelope?!
