Default Another day, another niggle.

Although I am very pleased with my new facelift ,as always, a few days of ownership brings to light the usual crop of small niggles. I knew about two of them which will be sorted next week (SRS light and parking sensors) but the latest is that the heated seats don't seem to work. Neither of the switch lights come on and I have tried pushing them and leaving them to no effect. The connector block under the passenger seat has fallen apart. Might this have something to do with it? There is no separate fuse for the seats(very odd) according to a wiring diagram I found on this forum.
She doesn't get very hot either (average temp 65) and I have checked this with my scan gauge which doubles as a trip comp and with the on board diagnostics. As my tourer is a mid 04 car it is OBD 2 compliant which is very handy. I have ordered a mod kit from DMGRS and also a service kit including PCV filter for peace of mind.
The next thing is to give her a polish which will show up all the body defects as I go round. Oh! and to clean the headlight glasses which are foggy. Any tips?

A Maguires headlight Restoration kit is pretty good for cleaning the headlamps, some people use wet and dry with a bit of T cut, if you look on YouTube there are some videos where people have used toothpaste that has baking soda, it's not perfect but having seen some of the videos seems to work quite well, I was surprised myself, however I use the Maguires kit, because it comes with a polisher that you can fit on the end of a drill and actually polished the headlights afterwards.

Hope that helps

Temp gauge will obviously be thermostat.

Also as for the heated seats well if the connector block underneath the seat is broken, I might be able to help with a connector block as I have a car I'm breaking that has heated seats and if you needed just a connector block with some cable on the end and you're not in a hurry, I might be able to help.

Regards Mick

Is it the same connector block as the airbag and seat tensioner or is there another one for the seats?

Another thing. Why would someone disconnect the headlight washers or does this mean they have never been connected? The pipes are missing.

The airbag connector block is two wires(yellow connector blocks) from memory I think seats are a black connection block, without going to the garage and looking under seat I can't be 100% but I'm about 90% sure

Mick

Washers could be a leak so they have disconnected them, headlight washer pipes run along bottom of bumper into bottle on the left as you face car.

Sounds like it's had a replacement bumper at some point.

It has a very faded badge as you can see from the pictures so maybe you are correct.
