I didn't fancy eating anything until I started cooking it, a smallish portion might shut it up.

The weather is really bad here, windy and lashing down with rain. I'm about to go up to bed now and bury myself under the quilt. Night all, catch you in the morning Zzzzzzzz.

Steve. I am not sure what the answer is to the problem of corruption. This afternoon, we were stopped in our car rental twice at a road block, going into the town and leaving it. The policeman had a severe look on his face and I thought “here comes trouble”, but all he said was “Happy New Year” and then waved us on our way.

We have to stop, everyone has to stop, as failure to stop means you are a suspect and you can be shot. The police have powers to shoot all suspects dead since the government introduced death squads to tackle terrorism and crime. We are not that far from Somalia and you can see that look in some of police/soldiers eyes, the itchy trigger look, as though they are on the edge, so we play the game and go along with them. Most of the time, I joke my way out of it. Only last month, a robber/rapist was sentenced to death.....

Good morning all, Storm Whatever You Call Yourself has been with us since last night, I'm hoping when its light enough to go outside that no damage has been caused.

On the subject of Police corruption Phil do you normally make sure you have some cash on you for that particular reason in case you are stopped?

Morning everybody, What a wild & windy night, hardly got any sleep with the noise of the wind roaring down the bedroom chimney.

Still wild out there with horizontal rain. I've got an appointment with dad at Bolton hospital later for his eye injection. I don't think I would have ventured out otherwise.

Morning, quite calm here now but was a bit wild during the night. I was woken up at 3am, heavy rain and wind, sounded like somebody was using a powerwasher to clean the bedroom window.

Well that was a waste of time! five minutes after we left dads to go to the hospital they'd rang Mam to tell her his appointment has been cancelled at late notice.......note to self switch on yer mobile phone.

Going to start making tea, shepherds pie with curly kale.
