It's always worth keeping an eye on your tax code and contributions though as they get things wrong on an alarmingly regular basis.
And they have definitely got mine wrong, but wonder what feeble excuse they will use tomorrow, when I call them, and if they say it is right, then I will just add money to my work pension contributions, to stop them from getting it, worked all my life, and have never had a penny from the government, and this is how they treat people, no wonder the rich folk of this county hide income away, they are highway men in disguise. I suspect that I will be paying more than the likes of Amazon, Starbucks and other big companies at this rate, but they don't hound them like the ordinary working folks, who try there best to get on

Ken Dodd had the right idea .

He said that when income tax first started it was a penny in the pound .

He assumed it was still the same ...

Wish I could do that, might have some money left over from my wages then to feed the family, and pay the bills

They are getting us every way they can at the moment.

They have sneaked the minimum amount allowed duty free on imports down this year. You used to be able to bring in £50 worth of good in from the outside the EEC and that is now £35 and if over £120 you also have to pay import duty.

They have at last realised that millions £ of goods is coming in from the US via Ebay and they were loosing out.

I know the economy is in a mess but instead of making the people who caused it pay the workers will end up paying via stealth taxes.

Good morning Stu, I had a lot of dealings over the years with Hector and his compadres. We did not always see eye to eye, but I did learn it was in my interest not to antagonize him over the phone. But did have to get a tax accountant involved to do my self assessments and deal with my appeals, as I was investigated 3 times for small change. I could have made a complaint for harassment

Eventually we broke even at the end of it all, with what I owed them and with what they owed me.

It was a relief to get out from their grips. Some of them can be really unpleasant.

All the best for today

Grrr It took me over 7 months to get my dosh back from them after they mistakenly took it. I've never known such an inept system to deal with, They lost the forms I had to fill out to get my money back & was told I needed to fill them out again, every time I rang I was given the runaround by various departments. Extremely frustrating experience. It's funny how they can take it with the click of a mouse yet you have to jump through hoops to get it back. I did say to him I bet google/amazon don't have to go through this malarky.

Ah the old lost forms scenario.

They want you to fill out the next lot and put down different figures so they can accuse you of all sorts of cheating .

Truth is they didnt lose them at all

But you can call me an old cynic if you like .

Yeah I could certainly believe that, & all the while weeks are passing by and you're still at square one.

I have noticed the same thing with other companies, ie DVLA, insurance etc, If your problem isn't in the drop down box option on their computer screen then basically your stuffed.

As the song says
"You load 16 tons and what do you get,
Another day older and deeper in debt,
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go,
'cause I owe my soul to the company store" (nay the tax man)
