V6 Coolant Pipes Made up
Hi all,
After taking delivery of the 190, it became apparent that the car suffered the same problem as has been made apparent on a few vehicles - the coolant pipe running underneath the engine has rotten through. There are two different types of pipes for the KV6 - one fitted onto models fitted PRIOR to 2001, and then 2001 onwards. The pipes were made using 316 grade stainless (used in the food and chemical industries) and in this instance we've used the brackets off of the original pipes as they were ok. We need some of those pipes as well if you are going into manufacture. We use our ZTT as the Clubs Course Car as can be seen below, and yes the decals really are that big but you can see through them !

i think it was some other members father in law was going to make them tc, about 10 months back .. i have a thought going round my head as to why that bit of the pipe work was metal .. only thing i can think of is stablity of the pipe work so the brackets can help hold the pipes firm .if t was to be made up in rubber then the pipes will be swinging around ,i know they could be tyed up but the strength of the pipes wouldnt be as strong.

Gerry3 asked for some old pipes as a pattern, but nobody responded it seems.

I'd not seen Gerry's request for pipes, and also we needed these ASAP.

The pic of the two should be there, we had the pipes made up from diagrams and photos produced by my father from the originals. The brackets were taken from the original pipework and reconditioned and P-clips added. |

You are quite right, I did ask if any member had a set of pipes which they could send me with a view of making them. Late's very kindly sent me a set of the old type which are more complicated to make than the photo given above, due to the number of bends being very close together and would need special jig's to produce, certainly not an item to be made in a garage at home. Even produced on a commercial basis theses would have been at an high cost and would need to be produced in very large numbers. Perhaps because of this there was a change of design to the more simpler one, like in the photo. Any one know if the later type will fit in place of the old ?. If any one has the later type and is willing to send me them to me, ( I would return them ) I would be more than willing to asses if I can make them on the same principle as I make the "Gerry Tee". I apologize for not having posted my results earlier but now hope we can make some progress in finding the solution to obtaining replacement pipe's and keep more of these cars on the road. My best regards to all the members of this great club. Gerry. |

The research we've done into these were leading to prices of the later pipes at around the £160 mark.
The pipes pictured were a trial carried out, if enough people were interested we could see what prices would be for a group purchase. As we've done it currently, the brackets on our pipes are the pipes off of the existing brackets - we did the assembly work. The pipes were fitted to our 190 last night and we will post results up on this thread. Could those interested in a set of these post up so we can guage demand (I already know of 2) |
