Interesting read - thanks for posting. Bargains are still out there - I recently purchased a '53 plate Club SE diesel automatic with a mere 45,000 on the clock for £1,495 sight unseen, and it is virtually unmarked throughout, even having FRONT parking sensors fitted (not original spec, but they work perfectly) and cruise control. I know I shall annoy many, but to me the downside is it's colour - white gold. The lack of leather is actually a bonus in some ways.

Funnily enough, I was sent the link to the article by a friend who cautioned against me buying my 75 back in 2009 and still pulls my leg about it!
I do think this model is now on the cusp of going through the old banger status into modern classic. Although we have always thought highly about it, perhaps try 'market' is beginning to catch up - and this article provides an example of this.
My only real concern is whether the cost of driving to and sround London is cutting back its practicality,? But I suppose, the few times a year I will want to do so will be bearable!

As a Club SE owner, of course, I agree with you about the choice of upholstery 😄.

I like White Gold, colour is a matter of choice, my 75 is White Gold and I have had comments over the years from people who like the 75 and colour.
Your car sounds like a great buy, many years happy motoring.

The last gold car I owned was a 1978 Granada 2.8GL in 1982! However, having had the new addition for 2 months now, I am growing to appreciate the colour more, and it certainly does not show the dirt as much as my other 75/ZTs, Chatsworth excepted.

Having given up on the 75 a couple of years ago, finding a ZT Diesel Auto got me interested again.
The bills for my BMW and Peugeot 308 are eye watering.
Nothing has been expensive yet on the ZT. Says a lot about the support and supply still being there I think.
When our modern cars go wrong it’s a 4 figure bill.
