Marinabrian 160 remap and T4 session

As the title says had this done today from marinabrian.
Miles down 153 to 42.7mpg
Miles back 154 to 54.3mpg. Well impressed
Car has a clean bill of health also.

May I add that I honoured him with seeing his first set of Vikings before repaint job and also his first Virgin rover 75.
Had never been configured or touched by a T4 before today.
Great guy worth the miles and his wife makes a good coffee.

I think there are three possible explanations for the above stats.

1. It was uphill on a steep incline all the way to MB and downhill on the way back. Where do you live?

2. There was something seriously wrong with the car before the T4 session and remap.

3. Your measurement/calculation method needs rethinking.

Perhaps MB would care to comment?

It might just be down to the way YOU tickle it.

Can't imagine there is many steep inclines in suffolk anyway, our pavements are probably higher!

Would that be a CDT which returns 42.7MPG?

Seriously though, I don't think your car has calculated correctly. For a CDT, MPG of 42.7 is rather low and an increase of 11.6MPG through a remap quite unrealistic.

I've had many T4 sessions off Brian as he has diagnosed and repaired many a fault on my ZTT diesel and he has given me the upgrade,no need to knock it as it does work, maybe there is a little placebo effect but there's a huge benefit from it...maybe it doesn't improve the mpg by a huge margin but it still improves it along with the vroom vroom.

I take all these measurements with a bit of salt.
You are likely to find what you look for.
Expectancy bias.
Ensure proper measurements, and the results will most likely not be quite as spectacular.

Not at all - I was not knocking it in any way whatsoever.

The point I was making in a lighthearted way was that MB must have fixed some other issue if, followng the remap, the fuel economy has apparently increased by close to 12 MPG. I do not recall anyone ever claiming such increases previously.

42.7 MPG on what I imagine was a relatively constant speed and traffic free run is relatively low for a CDT. Equally, 54MPG is relatively high.

Based on your experience, are such increases possible from the 160 upgrade?

Perhaps MPG is just less variable in Suffolk due to our lack of hills.

If I got 54mpg I would be over the moon except it's not going to happen in a million years.

I average between 32 and 34mpg which is pretty good by everyone I have spoken to.

It has the remap plus all the other goodies and is mentally quick.

But to be fair I spend 90% of my time driving around in a 20 mile radius without going on a dual carriageway except for a fancy link road which is limited to 50mph.
