Default Head Unit monitor flips between widescreen and normal

I've retro fitted a widescreen head unit into my 190 (there was no monitor or sat nav previously). I've installed the BM54 radio, and the Mk4 sat nav. Stiil only got the analogue TV though, so doesn't work in most areas due to digital switchover.

For most of the time, the screen is in normal mode, but occasionally will flip into widescreen, then back again. Has anyone seen this behaviour before?

I've recently upgraded the sat nav firmware to v32.2, and the 2012 maps with post-code and night mode. It still flips.

I'd like to get it to stay in widescreen all of the time, any suggestions please?

Thanks, TC

Tony, I believe that you need to have the 16:9 TV Tuner to get full screen. Having said this, I can't explain why you get it intermittently!

Are you running a BMW video module or a MGR one?

Thanks Tony, I did wonder if that was the case. I'm not able to splash out £500 for a 16:9 digital TV at the moment, and just replacing the TV module for another analogue one seems a waste of money. I guess I'll put up with the narrow screen for a while.
