With our cars being so old, I don't think our experiences can be considered typical. I think people such as Andy (trikey) and Terry (tsauto) are an exception not to be taken as the norm.

Kerridges in Needham Market were an excellent MGR dealership workshop.
Souls of Olney are still able to give excellent MG/Rover service, and proudly advertise as such. (see their website) I believe it's where Phil T4 is currently employed.

When I had my 1st 75 cdt, it started cutting out on roundabouts. I took it to a now defunct main dealer in Bromley where their diesel "expert" diagnosed fuel pumps. I was not happy with the diagnosis or price so I didn't let them do the work. The car seemed to cure itself until the next bout of wet weather when it clapped out altogether and I had to get it recovered to what was Lindfield Rover, not far from home. I phoned them to tell them the symptoms and say the car was on route. Just from the info I gave them, they diagnosed a blocked plenum. Unfortunately the ECU had burned out resulting in a bill for close on £1000. Honest and competent fault finding in Bromley would have saved that. Just wish I'd found this forum before that!
