Make sure you add some drain holes to the new panels and de-burr the edges of the holes before the panels are welded in place. I know I've mentioned this before on here, the panels Tom makes look to be very good, but for some reason he doesn't add any drainage points.

Water will ALWAYS get into sills, on our cars mainly through the stainless sill trim clips. You'll never seal these perfectly, so water must be allowed to drain out of the sill, or they'll need welding again in just a year or two

It goes without saying that all welded repairs need a good spray of wayoyl or similar once painting is complete and before the car goes out in the weather

He's putting a drainage hole in his repair panels now, I think you'll find.

Picked up Connie today after dropping her in for her sill repairs and MOT again. The cost was £120 for Tom's repair panels , £60 for a repair to the o/s inner sill and £400 for the rest of the welding and painting so £620 inc the £40 MOT fee.

I asked if the car was fundamentally okay and he said she's solid for 19 years old car so I'll hopefully have her for a few more years yet or until the government confiscate her for being a diesel automatic !
